I do Germany quite a bit with Business so i'm fairly well up on what to expect with hotels.Nothing prepared my for this glimpse into a nursing home. Before you stop reading let's just get things straight. The hotel is absolutely fine.I had a suite (4 days) - a few euros more than a double room - and this get's you a segregated sleeping area. The rooms are large - decent fridge- and all the windows open ( are you listening Ireland ?).The pool - sauna area is up there with the best i've seen in any 5* hotels. But the guests.- Oh dear. They were all into their 70's - plenty of zimmer frames or walking around in nightgowns.Very disturbing. The whole area, and there are plenty of hotels to choose from, seems to be a sort of retirement village. The old dears stampede the restuarant at 17.50 and vanish off to play bingo at 19.30.The whole place is empty then. The food is excellent as it is in most of Germany. The hotel is in two parts seperated by a quiet road. One part opens during the day and then the other bit takes over during the evening.Bit difficult trying to get a drink late afternoon but you can always pour it yourself as there is a beer pump in reception.I kid you not. There is nothing to do in bad Bevensen so get a car and pop into Luneburg.
