Colombo - Naples, Italy     

Please find another place to stay, unless you are adventurous. We arrived with 2 families and a total of 4 teenagers, and the kids sat on the balconies all night watching prostitutes on the street below as they rode off on Vespas with "clients." The climb up to our third and fourth floor rooms was via a narrow, winding marble stairwell; very difficult to negotiate with luggage. BEWARE!!

We found this hotel using the trip advisor advice, emailed a booking and knew where we were heading before we set off. The price was good at €70 per night including breakfast. We stayed 3 nights. The staff were helpful and spoke good english, helping us with our booking in Rome. The climb up to the third floor was tiring after days on our feet. Naples is mad. The city is chock full of traffic and mopeds and pedestrians crossing in front of the traffic. Every car has dents. Every road is a shopping opportunity, either with shops or market stalls, or street traders. Erculano was spectacular - and free - due to our timing for it was Week of Culture. Ate locally each night at places recommended by the staff at the hotel. No tourist information centre easily to be found, but hotel staff gave us all the advice we needed. Bedroom small, matress old, pillows older. Compact but functional. Breakfast of croissants and rolls, with lovely coffee. Tiring city because the traffic never stops - but this street was partially pedestrianised, so a little oasis of calm. Enjoy.
