Location

The area in which the hotel is located is a melting pot of business, fashion, arts and shows in the very heart of Rome. Despite its tranquil position, there are numerous boutiques, cafès, historical theatres, typical Roman ‘Hosterias’ and a fitness centre with swimming pool and gym in the surrounding area.

The hotel is within walking distance of the Colosseum, Basilica San Giovanni in Laterano and the most important avenues in the ‘Eternal City’: Basilica Santa Maria Maggiore, Basilica Santa Croce in Gerusalemme and Via dei Fori Imperali.

Furthermore, the hotel’s proximity to Termini train Station, Manzoni and Saint John underground stations and the numerous buses and trams, makes it an ideal starting point for visits to all the most famous tourist areas, including the Vatican City, Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Square.

On arrival they were doing some cosmetic work in the entrance, which had me worried. However after an easy check in we went to the room which was lovely. Very clean with a big comfy bed and nice full length windows. The bathroom was nice and there was a bath which was great after the journey. Breakfast was a buffet with the choice of lovely pastries, hot food or cereal. Overall this was a good hotel to stay in, with easy access to the main sites on foot.

This hotel is fine but not exceptional. I'd say it is more a business hotel than a boutique hotel. While the design is quite nice in the reception, it's not drop-dead gorgeous and lacks any quirky touches (rooms seemed to be all identical). Few annoyances: - breakfast stops at 10.30am with a vengeance - so if you get down at 10.25 and ask for food to be replenished, they won't (understand that you wouldn't get stuff cooked freshly but even our requests for some bread were bluntly rebuffed) - hotel map doesn't actually show the hotel (hidden under an ad - bit confusing) - sound-proofing on to corridors isn't great - we got woken up by kids running around at 6.50am (bad parents!) and by people knocking on other people's doors. However, despite these gripes it does have its good points: - quite good central location (near metro and walkable to most main sights) - area itself is a bit dull but the cafe the staff recommend nearby is delicious - good value compared to other Rome hotels - nice desk staff - very clean - big comfy bed Another point of difference is that rooms at the back overlook a big school playground - you get the strange sight of children singing the national anthem under your window each morning! Wasn't a problem as kids don't arrive too early and double-glazing kills most sound.
