We decided to choose a three star hotel slightly outside of the main tourist areas in Rome because we figured we'd get more for the money - boy were we wrong! It was so far out of the city that no one at the train station (information desk, hotel desk, bus drivers, etc) knew where it was, and we ended up having to get a cab (which are expensive!).
The hotel looked nice in the lobby, but the rooms looked NOTHING like the photos on their website - it was so small that we barely had enough room to open our luggage. The bathroom was tiny, and we didn't have hot water for the first three days. The floors in the bathroom were peeling up around the shower, and there was mold in the shower and on the wall. It also looked as though they had removed a tile, though god knows what they replaced it with because it looked like some sort of growth coming out of the wall. It was really difficult to shower there!
The ONLY positive of this hotel was that it's near the Trastevere district, which is known for it's restaurants and nightlife. It was a short trolley ride to get there. Otherwise, this place was awful.

On the whole this was a really great litte hotel. It was clean, the staff were friendly and were only to pleased to help out with directions, requests etc. The walls did seem a little thin and you can hear the louder guests now and again.
It is of the main drag a little and on arriving you do get the feeling that one is in the middle of nowhere, there are few tourists here. Theres a tram stop less than a minute away which will take you to the heart of the city. Also a bus stop to take you to Termni station too.
Try the dinner in the hotel. Its nice and really cheap up the site of other Roman prices! I would recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for one night. This was the cheapest place available in Rome, apart from some cheap shared bathroom accommodation near Termini. Paid 95 EUr for a double.
The room was fine, we had asked for a room at the back and it was really quiet. The location of the hotel is very practical- getting to the airport is really easy with Trastever station a 3 min walk away and teh tram takes you directly to the centro storico.
Didn't try the breakfast as i prefer to have coffee in a bar, like most Italians.
Staff was very friendly and helpful- we left our luggage for a few hours on the day of departure which was no problem.
Overall i was pleased and i would stay again.

We have just come from a short visit to Rome and loved the Hotel Villa Rosa. It was absolutely clean towels, sheets and all. The staff were very helpful and all spoke good english. Breakfast was good but could have been alittle more varied. But on the whole it was a good stay and we will surely return to it.

Stayed on two occasions this year at the villa rosa hotel. Each time I was very happy. The location is pretty convenient with the tram, several buses and the trastevere station 3 minutes away. The room are a little bit small but very clean, the AC is working fine. The staff are very welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is good. I would stay there again should I return to Roma. I think that is is great value for money.
