We stayed a week at the Visconti in Rome. The rooms were a bit small for the price according to American standards, but, the location was very good. The light switches and other rooms equipment took some getting used too, but we managed after a short while. Breakfast in the basement was OK but, I would rather have had a view of something. They are pretty cheap with the ice, almost one cube a day is the ration...

We spent 2 nights here on a precruise package. Front desk staff was always pleasant and helpful, the hotel was very clean, and the breakfast was actually pretty extensive- cereals, fruits, meats and cheeses, and pastries. It is in a reasonably convenient location, especially if you are OK with using bus/metro to get to some sites which are further away, such as the synagogue or the Colliseum. There are several neighborhood restaurants to choose from. The only "drawback", if you want to call it that, is that it doesn't have the charm of an older hotel- it is quite contemporary.

My husband and I stayed at the Visconti Palace hotel for 4 nights in March. We had read the reviews about surly staff and disappointing breakfasts, and I am pleased to report that we found the exact opposite. The staff were welcoming, pleasant and efficient, the lobby area is bright and welcoming. We scored with our room as we had a suite (we had just booked an ordinary room) Room was lovely and very clean. Breakfast was great, buffet style, They have a massive selection of cereals, fruits, breads, rolls, meats and cheeses, then (if you have room) lots of pastries and croissants (The warm chocolate croissants were my personal favourite!) Nice bar area, with ouside seating, and a lovely outside seating area on the 7th floor. I loved loved loved Rome and am def going back, and would def stay at Visconti palace again. Its about a 30 minute stroll to the Trevi fountain, 5 mins to Castel St Angelo and 40 mins to the Spanish Steps Top Tip, 1 Dont mistake the nearby bank for the hotel , they are deceivingly similar ! ! 2 Dont bring your pretty heeled shoes to Rome, the cobbles will ruin them, flat comfy shoes are essential !
