My wife and 8-year old daughter stayed for 3 nights here in late June, 2008. The hotel is in a great location. It's easy to walk or metro from the train station. It is also close to all the major sites, except maybe the Vatican. We walked to everything, even Borghese. It is small enough. The front staff was nice and professional. The rooms were typically small, but well decorated and furnished. The bathrooms were nice. Air conditioning worked okay. More often, I see european hotels with separate keys for the electricity. You have to plug the key into a slot to turn on the room's power. They have that feature here. The breakfast was average. There is a rooftop restaurant that looked nice. We didn't eat there, but did have a nice gellato. There are lots of good restaurants and shops nearby. Unfortunately, there is one restaurant just off the Piazza Barberini that has a "tout" trying to lure every obvious tourist into the restaurant. Avoid this and all places like it.

This was our third stay at Albergo Ottocento and it exceeded our expectations again. This hotel is conveniently located close to the Spanish Steps and Trevi Fountain. Hotel is clean and comfortable. The most valuable asset of this hotel is clearly its staff. The Front Desk staff is the best we have ever encountered. Friendly, efficient, helpful any adjective you can use applies to this group. They continually make our stay in Rome a pleasure.
