A Very Enjoyable Stay

Reading some of the reviews below this one you'd think you were staying in Beirut but no the Hotel turns out to be a rather elegant little place within very easy walk of all the main tourist attractions and in close proximity to Termini Station were both trains and busses can be found which will get you to anywhere. We had nice clean rooms, hot water, lockable doors. The TV was fine - there were English channels - BBC World, Sky Cinema 3, CNN and about 25 other channels to choose from if we so wished. All with excellent reception. But hey, we never went there to watch TV, we wanted to see the sights. Breakfast was fine, in a rooftop restaurant with a fine view of the city. Adjacent to the restaurant is a bar and lounge area, also with excellent views. All in all a very pleasurable experience. The staff were always smiling and courteous - we never had a problem getting a taxi, simply ask the desk clerk and he or she will ring one for you and it will be outside the door the moment you step out of the door. The room was fairly small but this is typical of European rooms but they weren't cramped and there was plenty of room to walk around. There is a fridge but no kettle but with so many cafe's and bars around it wasn't really missed. Each day we came back to the room about 6.00pm to find that the maid had been in and straightened or changed the bedclothes and put new towels in the bathroom. There was plenty of bathroom accessories including a hairdryer, shampoo and showergel sachets as well as blocks of soap. You will be told that the area at night is one to avoid, but the hotel is on the corner of a very busy street with lots of shops and bars and restaurants very close by and at no time did we feel threatened or unsafe. as long as you are careful and stick to the well lit main roads you will be okay but then that could be said about any city at night. All in all a very pleasent hotel, situated in quite a busy built up area - yes it is noisy but the windows when shut, block it all out. I would heartily recommend it to anybody who is looking to visit Rome and does not want to stay in too expensive a hotel. We had a fabulous time and part of that is down to how much we enjoyed staying there. I would have no hesitations staying there again.

This hotel is very conveniently located near Termini Station. Easy to find and clean with helpful staff. The rooms are not very big but we only slept and showered in ours (there's lots to cram into three days in Rome!). Breakfast was the normal continental style with lots of fresh pastries etc, various coffees and other drinks. I was really worried after I'd read the reviews on here and yet I had no problem with the hotel, the booked our travel back to the airport and we paid the same as if we'd caught the bus!

We just returned from a holiday to Rome, we were booked into the hotel chapagne palace but when we got there we were told we had been changed to the other hotel the champagne gardens, the man at reception marked out the new hotel on the map and wanted us to walk there with our luggage, the new hotel was a lot further out than this one, he only ...

Okay
Why all the fuss?

We stayed here for 3 nights and wondered what all the fuss was about. We booked the hotel for 2 reasons: price and proximity to the major attractions in Rome. We weren't expecting luxury, after all, you get what you pay for. All we wanted was somewhere close to the sights (we got that) and somewhere clean and comfortable (we got that too). The breakfast was good, eat as much as you want. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful, even phoning for taxis for us when we wanted to go out for the night. We were impressed. At the end of the day, when you're on holiday, you only need a room to sleep in. If you want to spend all day in your room, you should pay top prices for luxury. We overlooked the main road and yes, it was noisy, street cleaners, trams etc all passing at 4am, but you deal with it. We wanted central and that's what we got (and the noise and traffic that go with it). We would definitely stay again at the Champagne Palace and would recommend it to others.
