My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night in March 2008. We are business professionals in our mid-40's from the US, and no children. A young couple manages the property and they were very gracious. We could tell that they strived to present a good experience for their customers and were very proud of their offerings. We were given a choice between two rooms to sleep in, so we got to inspect two rooms. Both rooms were very clean and had nice decorative touches. Both rooms very nice considering the low price for the hotel compared to other hotels in Rome. Considering the current exchange rate, I would definitely stay at the Cortorillo again for a satisfying and inexpensive motel very close to the train station.

details of hotel at hotel website [google hotel name]
PRO; reasonably clean; room-rate includes cold continental breakfast [assortment of baked goods wrapped in plastic, nothing freshly baked, tea/coffee, fruit juice], refurbished in last few years so furniture in good shape, bathroom had new fixtures, high ceilings; good water pressure so nice hot shower; good location, close to train station/metro/bus-station; lots of restaurants/cafes in all price range close by; McDonalds within a couple of blocks; Many churches & tourist attractions within walking distance
CON; Tiny room; no views; paid 70euro including tax for single which seems somewhat overpriced for what they offer
TIP; if going to vatican then take bus over metro, that way you get to see more of city, they cost the same; metro/bus tickets not sold at bus station but buy at tobacconist near bus-station; buses can be crowded in rush hour, be careful of pickpockets
