Have you stayed here ?
Biggest DIVE I've Ever Seen!

My wife and I stayed at Hotel H2000 Roma in May 2006. We stayed in a single room on the ground floor next to the front desk, with a view to the Interior court. We asked for a NON-Smoking room at the time we made the bookings. Staff was pleasant when we arrived. HOWEVER: During the 1st night, our room got filled with smoke, to the point where my eyes were burning. I went to the front desk and asked the night clerk - some guy pushing 60's - what was going on. His explanation was that most likely the rooms across the hall are smoking rooms and smoke from those rooms has sipped into our room. NOT EXACTLY....He was basically lying to my face. Between the front desk and our room was the employee lunch room. During the night, he would go in this room and chain SMOKE. Since he also had advanced Chronic Bronchitis he would cough and hack his lungs out all night long and as you guess, I could hear it loud and clear in our room. hmmmm really really impressive for the 1st night... Also the reason you get your food delivered to your room is that they have NO LUNCH room. 1st cup of coffee is free, but if you want an additional one...you have to pay for it... Needles to say next day we checked out of this dive, went across the street and checked into Hotel Barberini. (Great Hotel!) From then on we enjoyed the rest of the stay in Rome and we had a fabulous time. Portland, Oregon.

In Rome, this is value for money!

In reply to some other reviews, real estate prices in central Rome are at a premium, consequently hotel prices will follow. These rooms are not big, but as my part-Italian friend also noted, for Rome (or any other major European city) standards you are getting a very good deal. Our room on the first floor had what we needed, enough space for all our luggage and shopping, AC, a tv and telephone and to our surprise the biggest bathroom we encountered on our whole Italian trip. Marble, with a massive shower and massive waterfall effect shower head! We had no problem with noise, our room was at back overlooking the inner courtyard. Not a very nice view btw but that is not why I came to Rome, to sit in my hotel all day. Breakfast is small (coffee and cerial/croissant) but enough to get you started. The hotel staff is helpful as well. The location is very good, the hotel is in a safe area, it is close to the underground and within walking distance of the trevi fontain, the spanish steps and the main shopping street. Central Rome is not that big anyway and you can walk pretty much to all the tourist sights. If you are going to Rome for a short trip, I recommend this hotel very much.

My wife and I found the staff wonderful and informative, especially about places to eat and helping us with travel. The rooms are clean but do not expect large quarters. But we found that we spent little time in our room as we walked nearly everywhere from our location. The bathroom was clean and good on size. Little breakfasts in the morning were great and the coffee good and always on time.

Great Location - Below Average Lodging

The location of Roma 2000 is great -- about a 10 minute walk to the coliseum, a 5 minute walk to the Spanish Steps, shopping and restaurants all nearby and it felt safe. From the perspective of an American traveler, it was a borderline dump. The room was tiny. The tv was tiny (and terrible programming). The bed was very uncomfortable (two twin beds pushed together to make a double size and the beds and pillows were very, very hard and uncomfortable). However, the room was clean. The bathroom was spotless and modern. The windows opened up for fresh air. We didn't find the place to be noisy at all. And once again, the location was great. If you can find a good price on the Internet, and you don't plan on staying in your room much, then I would recommend the Roma 2000. Note that there isn't a sign on the outside of the building indicating a hotel. The address is posted clearly but it's a big building with a few businesses inside including the hotel. For reference, the Roma 2000 is right near the Four Fountains (a locally known landmark).

Excellent Accomodations!!!!

Hotel was very comfortable and spacious. We traveled with three young children and had plenty of room. The bathroom was very large and clean. Breakfast was served in your room which was nice because we did not have to rush out in the morning. The hotel was centrally located. Very close to the Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps. But we still walked everywhere from the hotel (colliseum and the vatican) although longer walks. The staff was very nice and helpful in providing us information as to where to eat and what to see. A VERY safe location. As for the other review regarding the noise we had no issue, even with our kids. The noise was the noise of Rome; thats it. A great stay.
