Apart from being in the middle of nowhere, on a busy street with a tiny footpath, our main issue was WE WERE ROBBED BY THE STAFF!!!! Our group tour stayed for 3 nights, and of course in group tour they leave your rooms and departure info on the pin board in the lobby. Only because I wanted to charge the camera batteries over night before leaving, I went in to our bags we had left in our locked room when we went to dinner. There was no mess in the room. No broken doors or windows. But someone had come in (with a key). Taken our camera bags (video and stills) out of the back pack, removed the cameras, then replaced the camera bags in the back pack so as not to raise suspicion. Only because I wanted to recharge the batteries did I find the cameras missing! When I alerted the others in our group, we soon found that it had happened to two other rooms of people in our group!! The jerk at reception told us there was no manager over night and we would have to go to the police in the morning as the police are only for emergencies over night (convenient as we were leaving at 8am). After calling our insurance companies, writing reports and nervously returning to our rooms, we told anyone else we saw staying at the hotel how dodgy it was and what had happened. One nicely dressed Italian couple seemed to take a lot of interest in our story, this was unnerving making me think they may have been the robbers. However an hour later we woke to the sound of police in the halls. It turn our the Italian couple we off duty police officer at after we told them, they went back to their room and their IN ROOM SAFE had been opened and their jewelery stolen!! As they were police, and Italians, they were able to get some police attendance. The manager that did not exist over night was present at this time, he also happened to be the guy sitting in the lobby when I first asked to speak to the manager! The police confirmed that it was someone with a key who had broken in. The manager then said that THIS HAD BEEN HAPPENING FOR A WHILE!!!!! Thanks Hotel Torre Rossa Park Hotel Rome, we lost all our video and images of our previous eight days of traveling all over Italy, and put a downer on our Italian experience.

Over all stay (myself & my mother),quite good. Hotel lovely, people friendly, & the hotel surroundings very nice. BUT, we ate in the hotel the first night - not much choice, and although there was only 4 other people in the restaurant, we had to wait a very long time for the food! Our first night in the hotel, we had a cockroach in our room! Yes, a cockroach. A big one. Someone did come up within a few minutes to sort it. Mum had already squished it, but they fetched it & offered us another room which we didn't do. The next morning I asked that the maid mop the floor for us. This was not done as I left a mark on the floor & it was still there when we got back! Breakfast was great. The morning of our flight, we had asked for a wake up call, we only got a call to say our taxi was here. We were not awake. They said there was a problem with the phones!!! Rome itself is brilliant. Just don't stay at this hotel.

My boyfriend and i went to Rome for my 21st Birthday, we arrived at hotel which inside did look great. We were then giving our key and taken to our room which was outwith the hotel in the next block which looked like a public toilet when we entered. The block lay unlocked day and night. The next morning we were awoken by housemaids banging at door to get in asking us to leave room. The hotel was close to vatican and the bus service was right on doorstep which was great! Restaurant was great too, waitress were also very nice. Just pity about reception and bar staff who were not interested in us at all because we were scottish!! Please dont let this review put you off!!
