3Nice room. Clean, with decent closet/drawer space. Good sized bathroom with bidet and typical half-shower-door on the tub, so be careful not to soak the floor. The tiny TV in the bathroom is a cute touch, if somewhat unnecessary. Speaking of the TV, only two channels in English (CNN & one sports channel). Of course, we were not in Rome to watch TV in the room, but if you end up sick in bed, make sure you have a good book.
Breakfast buffet had a nice selection, but the cooked items were not so inviting.
My only other complaint is that the website advertises a piano bar in the lobby. The piano is indeed there, but during our 6-night stay (that included a weekend), we never saw/heard anybody playing it. Would've been nice.
The location is great. The Termini station is only three blocks away and from there you can catch the train, metro, or bus (including hop-on-hop-off tour buses) and get anywhere in the city in no time. Also makes for an easy commute to the airport.
While there aren't many tourist destinations right around the corner, reaching the Borghese, the Colosseum, the Forum, The Trevi Fountain, Corso (just to name a few) are definitely do-able by foot, which is the preferable way to get around anyway.
Lots of nice restaurants in the neighborhood. Our favorite was Alessio, right around the corner. Try the lasagna!
And if you're daring, there's a scooter-rental place a block away. We rented one for a very adventurous day of sightseeing for about 60 Euro's.
For the price, the hotel is pretty good. But the location is excellent, so we definitely recommend the Metropole.
