"Fantastic."

Fantastic. Redeemed a lifetime’s collection of Starwood points for 2 rooms in this extremely grandand oppulent 100 year old hotel. I felt a little miffed that Platinum membership only yielded the expected room upgrade and complementary gift for 1 of the 2 rooms, however, as the regular room was more than spacious and absolutely immaculate the case was put to rest. Decor, fixtures and fittings, the large flat screen TV’s in both the suite and standard room were all of the highest standards and exceeded expectations. The double balconied living room of the 2nd floor 2 room suite could only be described as palatial. Front desk and concierge staff all spoke excellent English and proved to be exceedingly helpful. Nearest subway station, Spagna, adjacent to Spanish steps, is a 10 minute walk, but the adjacent taxi rank was always occupied, ready and waiting. We did not sample the hotel restaurant as there were many alternatives within a stones throw. Overall the hotel was superb.

The thing that I will remember from this stay was the service. OUTSTANDING! I can not say enough about the staff. All spoke English, and were there to make your stay more comftorable. The food was great too! However, the pool was a bit small yet had a relaxing and luxourious sauna room. I would stay here again!

Location is perfect walking distant to most places in Rome for sightseeing. It is friendly and comfortable with a huge lobby that is welcoming. We travel all over the world and always travel with our son, who is currently 22 months; and at this hotel he was treated like a king. They are very child friendly do not let the lavish decor trick you into thinking otherwise.

The indoor pool is a nice touch especally for kids, the gym and beauty treatments are also wonderful for adults after a long day of sightseeing. It is close to Parco Borghese where the kids can run around and just be kids and the adults can take in the views, the history and enjoy good food and coffee at the park cafes.

Having stayed in hotels in Rome before , I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Westin Excelsior Rome. While it may appear pricey to some, if you are traveling with children you know how their comfort can make or break your trip. A wonderful cot bed/crib, high chair and personal service at breakfast topped our morning and got us off to a good start. Two nearby grocery stores make picking up baby needs easy as well as a pharmacy across the street. There room sizes across the board are bigger than most Rome hotels. Room rate with breakfast included is the best value.

The only downside is that the Hotel does not have a handicap ramp for wheelchairs or child strollers. There is always staff on hand to help get those who need it down or up the steps, of which there are not a lot, but it is a drawback. Once inside there are more steps up the the grand rooms of the lobby and breakfast room as well as a couple of steps to reach the elevators to get to the guest rooms. While this aspect was disappointing it has not put me off at all, and I would most certainly stay here again.
I cannot thank the staff throughout the hotel enough for making our stay so wonderfully comfortable and enjoyable and will book again soon.

I loved this hotel. It is beautifully decorated, wonderfully appointed, well located to good restaurants. We loved exploring the city with this as our home base upon return. I would love to stay her again!
