Overall, this was a convenient, clean and comfortable place to stay. True, the area surrounding the hotel is not typical of a 4-star hotel in that it includes many working class types of establishments and a good restaurant is probably a 5 - 10 minute walk from the hotel. Our three night stay there was uneventful and we walked around the area at night without concerns. We were not approached in any type of threatening manner and never felt uneasy. The room was relatively small but had comfortable beds and a flat screen TV. Staff was eager to please for the most part and the only complaint, though small, is they would not accommodate our request for a 1:00 pm checkout time instead of 12 noon checkout. They did, however, store our luggage for us in a secure area. I would absolutely stay here again.
Overall cleanliness, staff was very friendly, good value for money.
Hotel staff would not accommodate our need for a 1:00 pm checkout instead of 12 noon which was somewhat inconvenient for us.

Bed was very hard - like sleeping on concrete. Both rooms were too hot (27C) and could not get them any colder. Do not get room 501 as has no opening window! Excellent location near station and Metro.

The rooms were as the photos suggested apart from the fact they were quite small with a tiny bathroom. The breakfast was adequate but the same food every day. The reception staff were quite unfriendly and the area in which the hotel is situated is dirty and not very desirable. The hotel is described as 4 star but overall I would call it 3 star and not worth the money they were charging.

My Partner and I stayed at ambra palace for 3 nights and we had a very enjoyable stay. I found the room wasn't massive but it was big enough for the amount of time we were staying, and seeing as we'd only be sleeping there, I had no complaints. Breakfast was nice with quite a bit of selection. The hotel itself seems to be in an asian/chinese district of Rome but we had no trouble whatsoever walking around at night and managed to find a nice italian restaurant nearby. The hotel is in the ancient part of the city so dotted around are parts of the old aquaduct system and the colleseum and forum are within walking distance. There's a metro stop nearby aswell but we were too lazy so we got taxis everywhere! The big termini station is about a 10 mins walk. The staff at the hotel were very helpful and booked tours for us with a local company which I think were good value for money, especially the vatican tour.
