"Great Hotel"

Just returned from 5 nights at the Centarl Park. A very good hotel - staff were welcoming & friendly & always ready to help. The Moscati restuarant is superb for evening dinner - great food and modern surroundings. Breakfast offered a good choice (to european standards) and was very reasonable. The hotel looks recently decorated, is well maintained and very clean. The location of this hotel is good - 20 minutes on their free shuttle bus into the city (4 times a day in each direction) Or we found the local rail system very easy to use, with the station just round the corner from the hotel. Direct trains to the vatican area, or with one change into the historic centre. Only one word of warning- the last shuttle bus returns at 10.30 from outside the Bernini Bristol hotel in the centre of Rome. If you want to stay out any later than this you will need to get a taxi back (which can be tricky), as you will also have missed the last train. Overall would strongly recommend this hotel.

Hotel is very good value for money. High level of overall comfort, good view over the city, extremely good breakfast and a good restaurant - though the menu here would be a bit restricted if you were staying more than a few days. Public transport links are good- Gemelli rail station is just round the corner and the hourly hotel minibus is very useful during the day. Accessibility in the evenings is a problem. If you want to spend the evening in the city centre the last train back is 10.20. Also the hotel bar shuts at 11.30 even if there are lots of potential customers - crazy!

The Hotel was very nice. However it reminded of me being on a business trip and not a vacation to rome. The hotel is a good 10-15 min outside the city and the shuttle is very nice, however if you miss the shuttle or stay out past 9:30 then it's going to cost you about 12 euros to get back to the hotel from the vatican. The restaurant in the hotel was alright the breakfast was great for a quick bite before we went out for the day. If you are staying here plan on being in the center of rome all day and just go back to the room at night. Internet was 22 euros a day which is insane and the prices were alright for the distance from the city. We booked through expedia and paid extra for a room looking over the city and st. peter's, but when we got their it had been changed (apparently they don't think highly of expedia guests) to a room overlooking the back of the hotel and a suburban area. I would spend the money to stay in the center of rome next time.

I stayed in this hotel for 1 week in March and thoroughly enjoyed it. You are not downtown, but you are not paying downtown prices either. One block walk to Rome Train/Subway and you can get to the Vatican/Coliseum in less then 20 minutes. Be careful of your return times, as the Subway shuts down very early - 9:00 pm. Overall, very convienient. The rooms were very clean, the staff was helpful. Ask for a room overlooking the Vatican. You are on a hill and the view can be spectacular. Breakfast was included and will appeal to the North American tastes (Not always true in Italy). For other meals, I found the hotel restaurants and wine bar to be very pricey (Don't go unless you want to spend 50 Euro per person, for hotel food). The best part of the experience was a local restaurant a block away that has been mentioned in other reviews. It was called "Taverna Sacchetti". We stumbled on to it after seeing the hotel menu and thought we had found heaven. The owner knew we were not local (most of his patrons lived near, always a good sign) and delighted in bringing out local delicacies for us to try, unordered. These included appetizers, cheeses (inlcuding a "pan fried mozzeralla" which was incredible and home made pasta. We ended up going back 5 of 7 nights because it was unbelievable. Now get this.... the entire meal, including Beer or Wine, an appetizer, main course of Pasta (try the seafood pasta!!!), after dinner cheeses, plus coffee and a shot of the local Euzo was 15 Euro per person. You can't beat that anywhere in Europe. Even though their really isn't much else close to the hotel, I would definetly stay here again.
