The area is called Tuscolana. It is a middle class residential neighbourhood. Unlike the historical centre, tourists here are seen as giving touch of colour to the area and are treated respectfully rather than "just another tourist" as may be in the "hyper" busy historical centre. Restaurants and shops are targeted to Italians therefore cheaper and of better quality compared to the well known "tourist traps"... having said this in no way we want to undermine the spectacular beauty of Rome's Historical centre, we simply want to encourage a humanly enriching experience whilst visiting the "eternal city".
Travel information
The Guest House is located in the Tuscolana area (south-east Rome), metro stop Numidio Quadrato.
City Guest House of Rome is conveniently located close (honestly, a 2 minute walk) to the Numidio Quadrato stop on the Linea A underground. Once you are out of the station,if you are coming from the city center cross the Tuscolana, you will see a watch shop called De Stefano, to the left of the shop is Via Cartagine, follow the road onto Via dei Lateranesi and you will arrive(100 mt.) on Viale Opita Oppio. At number 76/78 on your left hand side, City Guest House of Rome will appear just in front of you. Ring at City Guest House.
Transportation:
The underground stop of Numidio Quadrato at only 100 meters - Ten minutes to P.zza di Spagna (13 underground stops), 8 minutes for Termini station (10 stops). 20 minutes for the new stop of the Vatican Museum (17 stops).
Connections:
If you're arriving at Rome Leonardo Da Vinci airport you need to get the train service to Rome Termini. There you get the subway Linea A southwards (towards Anagnina)and get off at Numidio Quadrato. The total time for this trip is of around 45 to 60 minutes. from Ciampino, you get a bus to Anagnina subway station (15 minute bus ride) and at Anagnina grab subway to Numidio Quadrato (5 minute ride). Once at Numidio Quadrato follow directions from map, a two minute walk to the guest house.
Finding us by car is straightforward too. Coming in Rome from the highway, either from south or North, you will have to get on the Raccordo anulare which is the "ring" road, which circumnavigates Rome. Each exit is numbered. City Guest House exit is number 21, which stands for Tuscolana Roma Centro. Once on the Tuscolana (approx around Via Tuscolana 643 "Pizzeria Le Streghe") after 5 km turn left (after Via degli Scipioni) for Via Opimiani, at the second crossing you reach Viale Opita Oppia, at #78 is City Guest House.
