We read several reviews on venere.com and decided to stay here for one night after spending a night at the Hotel dei Mellini (about 220? per night) to save some money. We were horribly disappointed. When we arrived, the room and reception looked nice enough, though it was a 25? cab fare from Hotel Mellini so it is quite far from the center of Rome. The bed was hard and the springs were poking through the mattress. The shower was extremely small (even for Europe) and had mildew. The bathroom also smelled like feces. The air conditioning did not work and when we asked a technician to fix it, he attempted and said he did not know either. This has been a terrible heat wave in Rome and has been about 95 degrees, with no air conditioning. We suffered and sweat through the night and in the morning when we showered, the water was not going down the drain and the whole bathroom flooded. Housekeeping came in to fix it then told us we could use another room to shower. We did some sight-seeing and came back to find the hotel had been taken out because of major plumbing problems in our room and the room next door. Upon check out we were told that normally the air conditioning is only turned on during certain hours of the day. BEWARE!!!!
