"Ideal - not in the centre but close enough" Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009
Value: 3
This hotel is an ideal base for sightseeing in Rome. The rooms are comfortable the breakfast was very good and to have a pool in such a hotel is an added bonus.
Its about a 15 minute walk (downhill) to the Vatican or just get on one of the frequent buses which run from the main road 150m from the hotel - we had a 3 day Roma pass which includes bus and metro travel as well as queue jumping at the Colosseum - worth the cost on its own.
All the staff we came into contact with were very helpfull and I would happily recommend this hotel.
Overall much better value than a hotel in the City Centre.
Yes, it was the first time I stayed at Hotel Villa Carpegna in Rome.
Meals in Villa Carpegna are very expensive.
Nearby there are only few little Pizzerias, not very good.
.safe and nice part of the city
.a little dark everywhere
.the breakfast is over at about 10:30 also on Sunday!
.swimmingpool close in may is bad, considering the hot in this time of the year in Italy!
