after booking this hotel i was slightly worried by some of the reviews it got.i have to say i was very happily surprised.the hotel was clean and the staff very friendly, most of them spoke very good english, much better than my italian anyway! yes it is outside of rome centre but the buses are so regular that it really doesnt matter.it takes about 30 minutes and it was 1 euro for the bus all the way into rome and they run untill midnight so getting back was no problem either.i would strongly recommend the aurora garden to anyone wanting a cheap, clean and friendly place to stay whilst in rome.

I have to admit I was slightly worried about staying at this hotel and regretted booking after reading some of the reviews on this site. Having just come back from our long weekend away and returning to this site it has become completely obvious who wrote all the bad reviews. All the American tourist did not have a single good thing to say about this accomodation which i have to whole heartedly dissagree with. The hotel is nicely decorated, rooms are of a decent size and extremely clean. Although the hotel is small it makes it friendly and personal. The staff spoke extremely good english and couldn't do enough to help. As far as the distance away from the centre of Rome, it was around 40 minutes away and you do have to take 1 bus and the metro but as the buses and trains run regularly and are exceptionally cheap, it doesn't make it a problem. If someone wants five star accomodation then that is what they should book. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
Great "but" Posted: Thu, Oct 25 2007 Good points.
Four of us arrived and were greeted on arrival by Al on the desk.
Great character made us welcome and at home. We had lots of advice from him during the stay and great, mainly humorous conversations.
The hotel is what it says Basic, clean, and friendly staff.
The breakfast is excellent and plenty of it if you like continental breakfast that is.
The local restaurants are very good even better if you speak Italian. prices lower than Rome generally due to this being in a none tourist area.
We would recommend the Relax Restuarant, found after a couple of tries at other eating houses,in the area great food excellent service and very reasonable.
Not so good points
Bit of trade discription here about the closeness to various Rome features.
The hotel is way out on the ringroad and at least two bus rides and the metro to get into the centre. Or a taxi which will cost up to 50 euro.
If you do get the bus or eventually the metro be very aware of pick pockets. We had two attemts at our party on the same day.One ont the bus and one on the metro.
Over all we hasd a great time at the Aurora Garden Hotel. And so should you
