Numerous artistic and architectural sights can be found throughout the historic city of Rome, some sights of interest include:
- Vatican City: Housing Saint Peter's Square with the Saint Peter's Basilica and the Sistine Chapel, displaying the works of Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael, Giotto and Botticelli.
- The Colosseum: The largest amphitheatre built in the Roman Empire, it could hold up to 50,000 people. It was built for Gladiator fights.
- Piazza del Campidoglio: Designed by Michelangelo, this authentic Renaissance construction contains the Palazzo Senatorio, seat of the city government.
There are also a number of museums and galleries that can be visited.
