"Modern hotel"Posted: Mon, Nov 23 2009Value:
3La Griffe is located at the Via Nazionale, just meters from the Piazza Republica and the Metro station there. Also the most important buses (40 to the Vatican, 64 to the old city and H to Trastevere) stop across the street. The Roman Fora are at the end of Via Nazionale, so you can walk there. If you like walking, the Spanish stairs and the Trevi Fountain are in walking distance (30 minutes walking). So the location is OK, but don't expect the famous small streets of Rome with nice restaurants and wine bars in the neighbourhood. The Via Nazionale is very busy, at night as well. At the street side you won't sleep very quietly...
The hotel itself is OK. Trendy, modern designed rooms (we stayed in a superior room, that might make a difference with other rooms). Beds are very hard. Nice big bathrooms.
Breakfast is very expensive, but who wants a hotel breakfast when in Rome? Do like the Romans do and get a cappucino and a cornetto (sweet croissant) at the cafeteria down the street. For just a few euros. Breakfast at the hotel is 25! The bar and the restaurant are expensive as well. You'ld better find a nice wine bar and restaurant in old Rome or in Trastevere.
We found the hotel nice and modern, but we would prefer a different location next time.
