We stayed at this hotel for two nights on the last leg of our Italian vacation (Venice, Florence and Rome). Of the three cities, this was the worst hotel we stayed at. When we arrived we used the lift to go up to the concierge. The lift was extremely small and smelled of urine.
When we got into the room, it was dimly lit, and reminded me of a shady motel. When we went to use the toilet, we found that it had previously been used, and not flushed!! We were competely disgusted and didn't feel comfortable or confident that the rest of the room had been cleaned. We immediately asked the concierge for a new room, and they claimed the hotel was fully booked.
Breakfast in the morning was again, the poorest of the three hotels we stayed at, and consisted of croissants, and and bread, fruit cocktail, and two types of cereals. The coffee tasted like dirty water, and the cappucino's were lukewarm.
We also asked the concierge for advise on restaurants, best times to visit certain museums etc...and were not given any helpful advice. This was a STARK contrast to our hotels in Florence and Venice, (of similar price/and star ratings) where the concierge's bent over backwards recommending and reserving dinners, and even got us book-ahead tickets for the various museums so we wouldn't have to wait in line.
The one great thing about this hotel is location. Located right on top of the Spanish Steps, which is near a Metro station, it was incredibly easy to get to and from during our stay.
The rooms were ok, but the service was quite appalling. The concierge was downright rude and made our holiday much less enjoyable, as we had to put up with his haughty attitude and rude expression every time we passed him. Breakfast was terrible too and when we asked them to book a taxi they booked a so-called limo, which consisted of a private car with a mafioso-like man driving at extremely high speed, who threatened us when we asked him to slow down. In short, the hotel experience made our holiday considerably worse and we recommend you stay at another hotel.
