We stayed for five nights between May and June 2008. The Hotel is renovated and looks nice.
The welcome at the reception was poor to fair, we arrived at 8:30 a.m. and were told that the room was not ready and we should come back at 10 or 11 a.m. that was not so nice.
The room was OK big bed and a smaller one. The room was clean but don't look under the bed. The sheets were clean.
The bathroom has no bathtub but it's ok. The AC was working nice.
the location is very good a 4 minutes walk to Santa Maria Maggiore, 4 minutes to Roma Termini were you can take the bus or train anywhere. and 6 minutes walk to Piazza del Republica.
Starting midnight you might encounter some crak junkies in the back streets around the hotel, but we never had a security problem.
Overall it was not bad. Just don'r expect a nice welcome and don't be too picky concerning cleaning and dusting and everything will be fine.

We just returned from our Italian vacation. Overall, Hotel Genova was the best of any we stayed at in Rome, Florence and Venice.
We had a very large triple by European standards. The bathroom was also pretty lush, with marble throughout. Everything was very clean and seemed very new.
The front desk staff was very helpful at directing us toward sights in the morning when we were ready to leave. The hotel also had a "full" breakfast, but the only difference between a full breakfast and a continental one was the presence of slightly runny eggs.
We really enjoyed the location of the hotel. Being right by Termini was a great location because of the proximity to public transportation and the ability to get out of the city easily. The area was sort of quiet at night (there were only a few restaurants in the area that stayed open past 11pm), but we enjoyed being a little bit away from the crowds.
