Adjacent to a country inn serving lunchtime and evening meals, this accommodation is convenient, comfortable and cosy. All rooms are located in our listed, converted barn, and are fully en suite; each room also has its own private entrance.
Free station/airport transfers are available from 07:00 - 11:00, and from 16:00 - 21:00. Long term parking is also available. Continental breakfast is available at any time in our self service breakfast area. This is especially convenient for those guests that have early morning flights. A late check-in (after 23:00) can be offered (by prior arrangement).
The precise age of Bonningtons is not known, however 1st records originate from the early 1600s, so it is likely that the house predates this by a few years indicating a very late 16th century or early 17th century property. It is now a grade II listed building with a number of key listed features.
Records are not precise but at some stage the property was acquired by the Houblon's Hallingbury estate. Bonningtons itself was reportedly the home of the estate manager. The estate itself also included Hatfield Forest. It was Jacob Houblon that created the current lake to be found in the centre of the forest, some time around 1740.
Jacobs son further enhanced the estate and forest around 1770 with the consultation of the famous landscaper Capability Brown adding further exotic trees and some areas opened up to improve the views. The lake itself was also altered at this time.

Only 3.2 km (2 miles) from Bishops Stortford station, Bonningtons also gives access to central London within 35 minutes. This also offers a connection to Cambridge in around 30 minutes.

Rooms
All rooms are located separate to the main dwelling in our converted barn/coach house (thus allowing complete privacy for guests).Each room has its own entrance/exit door with key to the outside, this allows for late arrivals and early morning departures, and trips to the local pub opposite.
All rooms have full en suite facilities with a bathroom that contains a toilet, sink and either a bath or power shower. Towels are supplied.
All rooms are and always have been fully non-smoking. All have an interconnected smoke detection/fire alarm system with emergency lighting to the same specifications as hotels.
All rooms have soundproofing between rooms. This has been fully inspected and approved and again complies with the latest government regulations for sound transmission to the same standard as hotels.
Dawn to dusk external lighting applies around the complete site, complying with the latest regulations on energy conservation, similarly all other lighting utilises low energy consumption.
With self-controlled heating in all rooms, you can make yourself comfortable before making a tea or coffee and relaxing in front of the TV.more info ...
