At first the Duomo Hotel was just a hazy dream. It was a place shrouded in mystery, removed from time and space, suspended between reality and fantasy. But at the same time paradoxically anchored to solid foundations, tied to the city, to its history and also an integral part of the life of Rimini, a focal point for a unique nightlife in constant change. Thinking back to the dream, to how we would have wanted the Duomo Hotel to become, we were sure that we wanted something that embraced the past but looked to the future, something different, something international that reflected our need for dynamism, design, creativity on one hand while on the other could also be a place to unwind, meet people and conduct business.

Ron Arad came up with an intriguing visual provocation that plays with spatial perception giving a new look to the original facade by covering it with a new skin to create continuity between the city and the interior. He designed an entrance that frames the perspective on the reception, making it the focal point of the hotel. A piece that looks like it comes from a distant planet, a huge glowing ring that is partly suspended in mid-air and partly resting on the top of a column, of which the interior is a warm, passionate color. The rooms have soft, round lines, in which the possibility to see and communicate with the outside is directly proportionate to the desire to hide or be seen, playing with day and night in a movement of light and shadow that recalls the idea of an infinite space.
