Hotel Obertor - Ravensburg, Germany     

This is an excellent little hotel in a thoroughly pleasant little town in southern Germany. The rooms are excellent, the breakfast was huge and the room rate was very reasonable. They were very accommodating of our 3 year old son and the service was always very good. Best of all, the mini bar prices were way below what you'd pay anywhere else. We found the hotel very helpful where parking was concerned - they let us stay there after our stay so we could wander round the town.

The accommodations were nice and the breakfast was ample - although 65 Euros for a single was a little overpriced. I want to echo the comments of my brother regarding parking advice. The hotel's parking lot was full so we specifically asked if it was okay to park our rental car down the street. We pointed to ensure he understood where we were parked and he assured us we could park there until 9:00 AM the next morning. The next morning we discovered that our car had been towed and that it would cost us 170 euros to retrieve it. The hotel manager would take absolutely no responsibility for his incorrect advice - prefering instead to blame us for not correctly reading parking signs that were written in German. We check and there were not signs that even remotely indicated we couldn't park there on Saturdays. He did not even have the courtesy to either drive us to the lot where our car had been towed or offer to pay the 10 euro taxi fee to get there. He absolutely refused to pay any of the 170 euros to retrieve our car. Be forewarned. If you stay at this hotel be sure to get a space in their hotel parking lot and do not heed the manager's advice about where to park Peter Salem, Oregon
