Park Hotel - Piacenza, Italy 

We stayed here overnight on a trip from England to Rimini by road for a classic car meet. The hotel is perfectly adequate for an overnight and I would think for an extended stay. It is a modern building and has a huge reception area. The staff are friendly and helpful, all speaking very good English - much, much better than my Italian! Our room was large and comfortable,although the beds were a litte firm, but this seems to be the norm in Italy. The bed was also about 6 foot in width,made up from 2 x 3 foot singles pushed together (again, this is common in Italy). There is also underground parking, although our cars were too low to get in without scraping the ground, so we parked in the external parking. This is not officially secure, but we had no problems at all. Breakfast was a full buffet. We took dinner in the hotel - it was OK, but nothing special. The portions were a little too large and the main course, a fish "mixed grill" was overcooked. The hotel seemed to be well frequented by business people as there is significant manufacturing industry in the area. For a one night stop, it is also easy to find from the main A1 autostrada, but be warned - there is significant construction work on this road and the exit junction has been moved about 2 miles in the Milan direction
