Stayed at the Del Corso in April 2007 with my wife- really excellent little hotel right near the centre of Pula- great facilities, new and clean hotel and great friendly staff- Maurizio the manager is outstanding- nothing is too much trouble for him from picking up the best croissants in town for breakfast, through to organising our full itinerary whilst we were in Sardinia!!
I would recommend a visit to Pula as it is a really quaint/interesting little town with some great traditional restaurants, and close to attractions and great beaches etc- Quite simply, if you are staying in this area, stay in Pula (better than Cagliari) and stay at the Hotel Del Corso and say hello to Maurizio.

My friend from Romania flew into Cagliari to join me (I'm from New Jersey) for three nights near that city, after which we drove to Pula in order to see the archeological site at Nora and still be close to Elmas airport for his return trip. We made a very last minute reservation on Expedia, and arrived to find we were the first official guests after a three year project in which owner Maurizio had demolished the old building and had built something wonderful from scratch. There was no need to worry about "working the opening kinks out" -the attentive service was excellent. Maurizio told us he had worked for Marriott in the US for eight years and it showed in a great way not usually seen in smaller hotels The Corso is brand new - marble staircases, gorgeous tiled floors in both the room and bathrooms, a great color scheme, a solarium on the roof, an ice cream bar, all manner of soft drinks available, and a tasty breakfast. On top of it all, Maurizio was incredibly kind and attentive, and I travel a lot, so I think I recognize the exceptional. I would definitely go back and heartily recommend it.
