we have just returned from a 2 week holiday to Italy where we had the good fortune to stay at the Artemura Residence Hotel in Pistoia. The residence is a former nobleman's villa which was previously called Palazzo Fancelli. Now a luxury 4 star hotel the Artemura is without doubt the best accommodation in Pistoia.
Our Apartment consisted of double bedroom, living room and a marble bathroom. The floors are all terracotta and the walls are so thick you cannot hear a peep from any of the other apartments.
To the rear of the property you can enjoy a scenic stroll through the "secret garden" which contains a 100 year old well and a secret entrance to the 14th century church next door.
Pistoia is a charming Tuscan town and offers excellent connections to the neighbouring towns of Florence, Siena and Pisa. we would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a quieter town from which to base their explorations throughout Tuscany.
