The staff at the Ideal, could not have been more helpful! Sergio and the crew were very accomodating, and the owner of the hotel, even drove a male friend and I into town, to his favourite bar, showed us where we could get a taxi back, and what to look out for. Davie and I would not have seen the place, which was beautiful, if it had not been for him, and his staff! thanks we had a great night.
I stayed at the Ideal for 7 nights, with several other friends as part of a wedding party where my best friends were getting married at Castle Nuovo.
The rooms were very clean, yes, in need of a little decorative tlc, but the beds were comfortable, the room ample, you expect rooms in Europe to be much smaller (!) no big deal...youre only sleeping in it!
Piazza Garibaldi was fine, if a little dirty, but a holiday is what you make of it, and we had a fantastic time, mingling with the locals, eating out in a different place every night, and utilising the accessible transport links that Naples has to offer!
Breakfast was what you made it, in the mornings, if I woke up in time, as i slept very well out there!! I had warm crossaints with cheese, or ham, or jams, and tea.
Overall I had a very pleasant experience, and the staff could not have been more obliging.
Kind Regards to you all!!!

We stayed at Hotel Ideal for one night as part of a tour around this part of Italy.
For a one night stay the location was perfect, very close to the train station. We found the staff at the front desk to be friendly and spoke sufficient English (keep in mind, you are in a foreign country). Our double room was a comfortable size for our short stay and had a private ensuite.
If you are staying in Naples for more a few nights, I wouldnt recommend this part of town - it is fairly seedy. But if you are only in the city for a little while, this location is very convenient.
