Down home comfort in the Sultanhamet district with one of the most friendly staff you'll find while traveling. Hotel boosts nice and clean rooms some with great views. Our room, #306, on the top floor, is a great family room with two separate rooms. Rooms are air-conditioned and hotel offers free internet with a house computer and wi-fi connection. The biggest plus is that the Hotel Tashkonak staff is wonderful and available 24/7. They even feature an English Concierge who is available mornings to help travelers plan their day. I should add that all desk staff speak English as well as other languages. The breakfast room on the top floor is run by a true Turkish mama (Though she doesn't speak English, she is warm and effusive). Mama serves great Turkish Breakfast foods like eggs, watermelon, borkes, eggs, olives, feta, halavah, etc... We found that we also enjoyed the other guests and sometimes exchanged tips and trips for the day. And, finally, the Hotel Tashkonak is in walking distance to all major sites in the old district.

Really enjoyed our stay of 6 nights, the room was comfortable with a/c and a great shower. Breakfasts were good and held on the roof garden with stuning views over the marmara. It is in a quiet street and very close to the center of sultanahmet.
The staff were great, extremely warm and friendly and helped us with everything!
