Good and clean for its location. No minibar which would have been handy given we were in Naples during the heatwave summer of 2007. Staff very helpful finding us a decent restaurant within walking distance, even rang them to send someone over to take us there so we didn't get lost on the way. Good air conditioning with individual control for room.

Not what we expected!

We arrived late at night to this hotel. The area looked very poor with no signs of any restaurants. Even the taxi driver looked apprehensive leaving us. We climbed the stairs to the hotel to be met by a wall of smoke! Our room looked reasonably clean but the thought of sleeping in the bed was untenable. After a few phone calls we found accommodation elsewhere and, after paying two nights cancellation fee (our booking stated we'd loose one night for a no show but the hotel insisted on two nights in cash), we secured a taxi and left. I picked the hotel as it has a family room for four but in future I'll take more notice of Trip Advisor advice. After all our initial upset we had a fantastic time in Naples. We visited Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius and loads of places within Naples itself. Herculaneum was the best place with the buildings and frescoes well preserved. We found travel on the train very easy and all sites were on the same route which was the Sorrento line. To visit Vesuvius leave the train at Ercolanium and walk to the left of the station where you will find a shop selling minibus trips to the volcano. I think the cost was 16 Euro each. The driver waits whilst you trek up and then returns you to the station. Herculanium itself is well signposted from the station and is a walk down hill through the town.

Hotel situé sur la Piazza del Mercato, dans un quartier populaire, que d'aucuns pourraient dire mal famé, de Naples : le bâtiment tranche un peu avec les autres... Deux églises juste à côté, l'une gothique angevin, l'autre baroque italien ! Situé à 15 mn à pied du centre historique, à 5mn de la station de la Circumvesuviana pour Pompei et Herculanum, et à 10mn de la gare centrale : elle reste facile d'accès et permet d'éviter les hotels bruyants de la Piazza Garibaldi. Chambre très propre et chaleureuse, SDB spacieuse. Petit déjeuner léger comme partout en Italie. Par contre, le quartier est assez bruyant jusqu'à 23h ou minuit, les jeunes napolitains se donnant RDV pour faire de la Vespa sur la place ! Cela dit, y-a-t-il un endroit à Naples qui ne soit pas bruyant ? Enfin, il faut être vigilant le soir en rentrant, encore une fois comme partout à Naples ! car les mêmes Vespa servent aussi à quelques voleurs : une expérience malheureuse avec un appareil numérique volé.
