We booked a lovely large deluxe room with a canopy bed. Its L'Olico restaurant, serving excellent Mediterranean specialities in a very elegant atmosphere. We loved the magnificent terrace of this restaurant which is looking-out across the Bay of Naples. The Bar Degli Artisty with its sounds of Jazz music is a contemporary elegant bar with a very cosi atmoshere. Every night after dinner we had a drink at this cosy and elegant bar.

A highlight of our honeymoon, the Capri Palace was a place we couldn't help but relax in. From the gently moving fabrics as you walk into the entrance to the neutral walls & flowers, it was a perfect place to sit back & enjoy. Worth splashing out on one of the many spa treatments too, they were a nice addition to the whole stay. Our room was tasteful with a four poster bed, though very small & overlooking another room's private pool & garden (which looked fantastic) though unfortunately out of our price range. I'd definitely recommend staying half board if you stay, as you then get to enjoy the full works at the hotel's Michelin starred restaurant - great service, fantastic food & if anything, almost too much food (but how can you complain about that?). The staff were great & certainly no sense of aloofness that sometimes comes with trendier hotels of this type. Overall, a great stay on one of the most beautiful Islands you could want to vist. AnaCapri is wonderful but also make sure you head down into Capri Town on at least one evening - a little more lively than AnaCapri but still relaxed with plenty of little streets & restaurants to visit.

"Capri Palace Hotel and Spa Has Its Pros & Cons"

Just returned from a 2-week trip in Italy, focusing on Sicily and Amalfi Coast. This is our third trip to Italy, and we chose the CAPRI PALACE HOTEL AND SPA as our hotel in Capri based on availability and location. NOTE: we only spent 3 days in Capri. PROS 1-LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION. This is obviously a matter of opinion. As noted by other reviewers, this hotel is in ANACAPRI which is away from the hustle & bustle of CapriTown & major shopping. My husband and I loved the fact that this hotel was nestled away from the (literally) cruise-ship loads of tourists. When we wanted to explore Capri Town for the gardens or restaurants or the shopping, we simply took a bus there. I'd much rather seek out the activity then be subjected to it. We visited in September, and CapriTown was so packed (maybe it was the cruise ships/tours) it almost felt claustrophobic. Not kidding. 2-LUXURIOUS ACCOMMODATIONS. Sure you pay for it, but the room was beautifully appointed. SUPER-clean, SUPER-cozy, MODERN amenities, GREAT linens, GREAT robe & slippers, and a luxuriously comfortable 4-poster bed draped in fabric. 3-ALL-TIME WINNING BREAKFAST INCLUDED We did not opt for half-pension, etc. We just booked the room, but breakfast was included. And I'm talking BREAKFAST that will knock your socks off. Not just plentiful in its variety but also super delicious tasting: Cereals, eggs, meats, cheeses, jams, freshly-baked and super delicious quality pastries (not all hotels offer the selection and flavor here, I'm serious), fish, fruits, fresh-squeezed juices (4+ kinds from peach to mixed citrus to orange to grapefruit, etc), breads, waffles, quiche, and of course, your coffee brewed to your specifications. Wonderful, leisurely breakfast. THe first day was outside on the terrace overlooking the pool; and the second day (because it was raining) they held it in the restaurant---very cozy and comfortable. Outstanding service. CONS 1-GET YOUR OWN TAXI TO THE HOTEL After making our reservation, we got an email where the hotel offered to arrange for transport from the Capri dock to the hotel. We took the hydro-foil to Capri & could have either (a) gotten our own taxi to the hotel or (b) had the Capri Palace arrange a hotel for us. We arrived in the port/dock, and although we didn't ask the hotel to make arrangements for us, we spotted a porter wearing the cap of Capri Palace/Hotel & figured we'd ask him. The porter has our name on a list as guest & placed us in a cab (we could have done this ourselves quite easily) and tells us it'll be on our bill when we check out. Since the 3 of us were not gonna deal with a bus because we've got our luggage, we just said sure. Upon check out I see it was a total of 40 EURO for the 1-way cab ride----but when we took the same cab ride later during our stay (IDENTICAL STARTING/ ENDING POINT) for just 15 EURO we were in business. What's with the hotel ripping us off like that? MIXED BAG: 1-AMAZING WHITE ROOM-BAR AREA AWESOME UNLESS THE SINGER IS THERE We did not eat dinner here, but did return for after-dinner drinks to the bar area which we dubbed the white room. Fun/comfortable white couches, great music piped in the first night (we wanted to buy the CD but found out it was a hotel mix), great service, etc. The second night they had a LOUSY, and I mean LOUSY LOUD woman singing American pop tunes?? What's that about??? We felt like we were in Ohio at a bad karaoke bar or something, and the amp was turned so high we couldn't even sit in the room----it was that loud and that bad. What a bummer----and totally did not fit a hotel of this character. In fact her singing was so bad we sat in the reception lobby and had our drinks/coffees brought to us there instead to escape her horrendous sound. OVERALL Pricey hotel, but we really felt welcomed, comfortable and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This is the kind of hotel that makes you want to spend time on the property, at the pool, in your room because of the comfort. There is not a lot to do in Capri (unless you're a sun worshipper or major shopper) so 3 days may have been a tad to much for us. We're grateful we stayed at this property because we felt like we had a lot of time on our hands and it proved a super comfortable place to hang out and relaaaaax. All & all, I'd recommend the hotel and do it again in a heart beat!!
