Hotel Mac Mahon - Milano, Italy 

I booked this hotel because I was looking for a nonexpensive hotel to stay for only 1 night before the start of our cruise the next day. After searching the internet for some time I decided to go along with Hotel Mac Mahon. I must say that it's not an unacceptable hotel but there are some things I did not like! First of all when we arrived at the hotel a group of 4 to 5 people were checking out, that would normally not be a problem but the lobby is so small that only 2 - 3 people can stand there, the rest including us had to stand outsite waiting. When it was finally our turn we were told that our room was not ready yet which would have been ok if we would have arrived early in the morning but we arrived in the afternoon and far later that the check in time was. We were told after waiting 30 minutes outside to go ourselves have look if the room was ready. I know I had booked a low budget hotel but I still think it's a bit strange to send hotel guests (does not matter how low budget your hotel is!) to go have a look themselves if their room is ready. My partner and I went up to have a look and they had not even started cleaning it yet. After waiting outside for in total around 1 hour, we finally checked in to our room. The room was ok for a low budget hotel, the toilet and shower were clean but not very atractive. The next day we checked out early with another receptionist which was far more quick and efficient than the one we had during check in. I must say that breakfast was very good: big buffet and very delicious coffee and cappuccino. If you are only planning to stay 1 night in Milan and you need a low budget hotel I would recommend Hotel Mac Mahon but if you are staying longer I would recommend you to find a better hotel.

Our family of 4 booked a quad room (hard to find in Milan ) at this hotel 4 months in advance. Our vacation was during the "furniture fair" so no rooms were to be found in early April. Upon arrival in our room we found 3 small Toddler beds for the 4 of us. We ended up moving the dressers and putting all 3 beds together. Luckily we only had to stay for one night.
