2We booked this hotel before checking the reviews, I thought it was too good to be true, a 4* hotel for 3 nights at ?120- it definately was. I completely agree with all of the other bad reviews. When we walked in we thought 'oh ok not quite 4* but it still looks ok' when then got up to our room which was dirty and very very worn. The bathroom was infested with ants, the walls were stained and the bed sheets were full of holes. I camplained to reception and they were more than willing to swap the room for us, the next room was a bit better- well there were no ants! We didn't find the hotel cold infact quite the opposite it was ver hot and the aircon was not too great.
On the flip side the staff were very friendly and accomodating, the breakfast was very nice and it was right next door to the tube station. All in all we werwe looking for a cheap hotel we could use as a base and had this hotel been advertised at a lower star rating I would not have been dissapointed. If you are looking for a cheap hotel then it is suitable but do not go expecting a 4*.
In regards to Milan it was great, we got a very reasonably priced bus shuttle from Bergarmo airport which was 16 euro return. The website says that the bus will stop close to hotel adam is you ask the driver. We asked the driver to do this but he told us the road was closed- it wasn't! we had to go to Central bus station and get the tube from there (the green line to the stop after Cinemano) which was very easy. We got a 48 hour tube pass for 5.5 euros again very cheap.
We made the mistake of thinking that central bus station was in the central of milan where all the shops were. we were wrong, after wondering around there for an hour thinking Milan didn't have much to offer we asked a lady to point us to the shops. We had to get back on the tube and go to Duormo stop.
This is where the big cathedral is which is stunning. We paid 7 euros to go onto the roof which was lovely and well worth it. We were not allowed into the cathedral as we had big bags and there was a religius ceremony on.
The shops were also great, some very expensive ones but also some very cheap ones. We were in our element to find that when ever we went to a cafe for a glass of wine we were served free food- usually crisps, nuts and pizza. By time it came to dinner we were not hungry!
Overall Milan is well worth a visit, its not too expensive if you don't go crazy, you can certainally see all of the sites for reasonable prices. We were there for 3 days and by the end of the third day we were ready to go home, you wouldn't need much longer unless you were going to travel to Lake Como or Bergarmo for the day.
