we just get back from milan. spent a week-end there. the hotel is just a few steps from the central station (centrali stazione ferrovia). as some of you already said the buildig situated in a really good place if you are from the malpensa airport and you take the airport shuttle. like 40 steps from the shuttle's stop. it's also pretty easy to reach the downtown. take the underground line nr. 3 (its station is at the front of the central railway station) to the direction san donato. only four stops and you are on the duomo. well, the hotel is pretty good one even if it's a bit scary from the outside (old building from the 60's or so...) but inside it's quite cool. modern chic design. black, red, silver colours. good furnitures. just like new. our room was on the 5th floor. the room was quite small, but it was still ok (it could be bothering if you stay for a week or so). some of the furnitures are not immaculate and some scratches on the wall, but all the other things were fine. the staff was helpful and nice, but frankly, we had almost nothing to do with them. the breakfast room is well decorated. the breakfast was good enough but nothing special. overall, the hotel is a good choice if you stay for a few days, but i would not recommend for a longer vacation.

The Starhotels Anderson is a very cool and chic hotel located just steps from Milan's central train station which is both a plus and a minus. On the one hand its very easy to find the hotel and jump on and make connections etc. On the other hand, it also attracts a lot of homeless people and panhandlers/drunks/scam artists. Obviously this is outside the hotel's control so I don't mean to be overly critical, but the area doesn't feel especially safe and I think it is something to take into consideration. The breakfast was excellent and the room was gorgeous (as was the rest of the hotel's decoration). The staff was courteous but not very helpful when trying to figure out how to catch a shuttle to the airport as described on their website. They didn't seem to know much (or anything) about it, and didn't seem particularly interested in finding out. For that kind of money, I expect a little more assistance.
