This hotel was very basic but very clean and most of staff were friendly, a couple were a bit difficult because of language barrier but if you have a basic idea of Italian, will be ok. The breakfast was a bit basic, but nice. Usually a cake and some french toast with coffee and juice, and an occasional yogurt if you are lucky.
Was in a bit of a rough, rundown neighbourhood, but noone really bothered us. I travelled with a group of 4 other girls, and we found it to be ok. Most shops in area close early because it is residential, but if you get all your provisions in before 9 at night you'll be fine. No shops open on a Sunday though, so be aware of getting plenty bottled water in beforehand or you'll be a bit stuck, unless you find a bar of resturant who lets you take out!!
The area has a few local resturants which do pizza, pasta etc. There is a chinese, but they don't speak any english at all, so a lot of pointing needed to be done.
There is a frequent bus service which takes you to the underground, where you can access the rest of Milan quite easily.
The staff at the hotel were very helpful to us in regards to helping out with questions when asked.

We got to Milan train station at about 11:00PM and had to walk to the hotel. As 2 female backpackers, it was a scary experience walking in the middle of the night through a not so nice neighborhood. The hotel is near bus stations, but nowhere near any metro stations. The hotel itself was nice for the price. The breakfast was a packaged croissant, yogurt, and bad coffee.
