Gran Sasso - Milano, Italy 

The hotel was very basic, is advertised as 3* online, but is actually only 2*. There is no lift in hotel, so if you are older, you may find walking the flights of stairs with baggage, a struggle. (this added to the fact, that no porter services are avaiable)! We stayed for the weekend, and during the whole duration of the stay, we never had hot water for any showers. The rooms are generally basic, but clean, but no hot water was unacceptable. Good location from the Metro.A basic budget hotel, which was overpriced for the service offered.

This year marked the 10th anniversary of the partnership with Abruzzo and Philadelphia, so we took a group to celebrate. Each year our church, St. Monica, sponsors a nice trip to different regions in Italy and this one took us to Abruzzo and Rome. The Gran Sasso is the only hotel in Teramo in the center, a little old and outdated, but overall enjoyable. It is clean, with a friendly staff and just steps away from the front door is the town center! Dino at the desk is a delight and makes you feel like a long lost friend. Opt for the half board which includes breakfast and lunch or dinner because the Gran Sasso restaurant is better than the best! What a friendly group in there! Teramo is not the most visited city by tourists, but it should be. It is a great base for the rest of the province and region. The people are friendly in the town and can't do enough for you. Visit Tuscany once, but make Abruzzo your home away from home!!!!
