Astoria - Milano, Italy 

Booked this hotel for my 21st birthday with five other of my friends and had an absolutely fantastic stay. We had three twin rooms which were all located right next to each other on an otherwise quiet floor. Check-in was easy enough. Although they wanted to keep our passports, which none of us were too happy about. I'm not sure if this is standard practice but after initially handing them over we took them out with us that night and just didn't give them back in. There didn't seem to be any problem with this so none of us were sure why they wanted them in the first place, particularly because we had paid in advance. The rooms were quite spacious with great storage and writing desk. TV and mini fridge all in working order. Bathroom was also great, excellent shower with various settings. Towels, loo rolls, all changed daily - inc everything else in the room, very well taken care of. Front door staff during the day time were excellent. We were looking for the best way to get to the San Siro and chatty man with a pony tail (wish we'd gotten his name as he was a great laugh) gave us excellent directions complete with some money saving tips! We had no complaints with breakfast either. Standard continental, plenty of choice and coffee came in very handy after our nights out! Location was fine for us. It was maybe a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest Metro which being honest isn't the best if you are elderly, but for us it was well worth it as our budget meant we could stay in greater comfort without paying premium central Milan prices. I would definately stay at this hotel again, infact I would probably not want to stay anywhere else!
