If you are only using your hotel as a base, the Prince Regent is probably the best in Weymouth, unless you are happy with the modern, rather sterile, type of hotel, in which case look at the Rembrandt. I found the staff, with two exceptions, friendly and helpful. The restaurant was pleasant and the food was very good and well presented, but not over-fancy. There is also a fairly large bar. I met one guest who tries to visit every three-four months. 'I love Weymouth, I love this hotel and I love the people', he said. A truly resounding recommendation. HOWEVER, if, like me, you are in 'your twilight years' and do not wish to be out and about all the time, this is unlikely to be the place for you as there is no decent lounge in which to relax. One lounge was in the basement and was totally dreary, another was used as an overflow restaurant when necessary. My single room, was narrow and felt pokey. The nicest part of the hotel was the spacious reception area, which, with the lovely weather and gentle breeze, was really pleasant, but a reception is not a suitable place in which to while away the time. However, I have nothing but praise for the Manager, Mark Sers, who, when I told him I was unhappy, made many suggestions to try and overcome the problem. If the Prince Regent ever acquires an attractive, comfortable lounge and the price is right, I would definitely return.

My wife and I booked a couple of days at this hotel for a relaxing break. The reception staff can't be bothered it is as though you are a hinderence to them. (to be fair one of the older ones was very pleasant, she was the one sat on the back stairs leading from the car park smoking) The food is edible and the room was clean and the sheets were nice and "crispy"but if you go in a car larger than a Fiat 500 then get ready for some bother as the car park is seriously small. There are steel girders in the car park from the floor to the ceiling which hamper you parking. Oh and dont think that once you are parked that you can go out again because I did and when I got back there were no spaces left. Well there are only 12 anyway for a large hotel. If you do go dont settle for room No 108 otherwise the door for the staff will start banging from 5.30am. I was so fed up I came home at 8.15pm and drove 256 miles sooner than spend another night there. There was nowhere to park and the council is eager to issue parking tickets as I saw loads with yellow stickers on their windscreens.
