Hotel Villa Selene details: Situated at an altitude of 700 metres and with panoramic views of the sea and surrounding countryside, the hotel is an ideal starting-point for trekking excursions and trips by boat.

The renovated hotel is made up of four functional buildings in large wooded parkland where, strolling around, you can taste delicious icy spring water from a private hard-rock source. Inside these buildings are 77 spacious and fully-equipped rooms with balconies and terraces boasting lovely views.

In the evenings, after a day spent trekking or visiting the beautiful beaches of Tortoli and Barisardo (20 km), you can enjoy a dip in the swimming-pool followed by a rich, traditional cuisine of home-made and freshly-cooked food.

The hotel is situated in a restful and panoramic area, at the foot of the Gennargentu mountain, overlooking the sea.

Opened in 1968, the hotel has always been owned and managed by the same family.

The hotel has various spacious public areas, ideal for your leisure and entertainment: pool and snooker tables, reading and card rooms and guest library, all with easy access for the disabled.

Lanusei is the main town of Ogliastra, an Archiepiscopal seat, and has a small, well equipped hospital. It has approximately 6000 inhabitants.

Location

The hotel is situated in a hilly area, just 18 km and 22 km respectively from the beautiful beaches of Barisardo (Cea) and Tortolì (Orri), and 30 km from S. Maria Navarrese.

Nearby, guests can explore a variety of rock and woods, as well as natural caves and archaeological sites dating back to the Nuragic era.

The hotel offers a wide range of excursions, including a day trip with il Trenino Verde, ("the little green train"); an ancient steam train with wooden carriages that rides along mountains and villages, and a full-day boat trip along the coast from Arbatax to Cala Gonone (lunch on board on request). Guests can also spend a spectacular night observing the firmament and its stars at the astronomic observatory of Monte Armidda (about 4 km from the hotel).

The Hotel has two air-conditioned large sunny dining rooms, seating between 80 and 120 guests, overlooking the green hills and the blue sea in the distance. The hotel can organize wedding banquets, buffet lunches or dinners and special events.

The restaurant serves home-made, healthy and tasty traditional Italian dishes as well as the typical Ogliastra recipes, including home made pasta like “culurgionis” (made of mint and potatoes), sausages, roasted goat and pork (better known as su porceddu) as well as fresh fish.

A rich and inviting buffet breakfast (including salami, selection of cheese, bread and boiled eggs) starts the day. Try the homemade specialties: small cream puffs, crêpes with a choice of jams and marmalades, daily fresh yoghurt and a piping hot chocolate

Breakfast is served from 8.00 to 9.30, lunch from 13.00 to 14.30 and dinner from 20.00 to 21.30. The Bar is open all day until midnight
