Kongress Hotel Koln - Cologne, Germany     

A friend recommended I stay in the Pullman due to its location. I'm glad I took his advice. The hotel is ideally located for wandering around the city and shopping. There are 2 underground stops a few minutes walk away. I had a new, Deluxe room (means it's on a high floor - 10th floor). The room and bathroom were both delightful. The room is well-designed: good lighting, clever use of space and comfortably furnished. Unfortunately I found out when I got to my room that the water had been turned off due to ongoing refurbishment works. I understood the need for this but would have appreciated being told about it at check-in. I tried to access the internet but found the explanation of charges when I opened my browser unclear so I rang what I thought was a free (the charge was only 10 cents but I think If you are going to charge for something that is normally free, it should be explicit) number on the page . The guy who took my call clearly explained how the charges worked: a per minute charge from midday to the following midday,with a maximum daily charge of EUR19.90 When I went to pay my bill there was some confusion at Reception over this. A few minutes after I got back to my room the Concierge (who had overheard my conversation with the Manager) rang me to say he had spoken to the internet company and that my understanding of the charges was correct; that he bothered to do this is the mark of an outstanding staff member and I was VERY impressed by his efforts. It is planned to have all rooms renovated by the end of the year. I would HIGHLY recommend this hotel.

Pullman Cologne Hotel Date : last week of May 2008 My husband attended the printing show in Drupa and we stayed at the Pullman as he had stayed in Cologne previously and thought I would enjoy the city. What a fantastic hotel - we cannot stress enough the excellent service we got there during our week-long stay - from every single member of staff that we dealt with - it was a pleasure being so well treated - they sure do know about service to their guests! Very clean hotel, fantastic breakfast, lovely bar service and the best espresso in town! Very well situated within quick walking distance of sightseeing, shops, the Rhein and the train station. Excellent choice of restaurants/cafes in the area. The staff were so friendly and helpful it was like being at home - well done Pullman - good luck with your refurbishing - hopefully we can come back to stay at the hotel and see how great your "new look" is! Thank you for your hospitality. You guys are tops!
