Hotel Garbe - Armacao de Pera, Portugal 

we have just returned from 10 days at the Garbe, the location of the hotel is excellent, direct access to a lovely beach and a pleasant stroll into the village centre. we stayed on a bed and breakfast basis. The dining room was very relaxed and well stocked,and has stunning sea views. Local restaurants were good value for an evening meal. We had a standard room, which was clean and adequate, there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room which were restocked daily, there was also a decent sized fridge in the room which was very handy for storing water. I would strongly recommend anybody that likes to sit on the balcony to upgrade from a standard room as there was very little space on the balcony, only room for one chair and this had to be manouvered to enable opening and shutting of the door We found all staff to be very efficient and there is a general feeling of calm in the hotel which was very nice Our main critism is that the pool area is far too small for the hotel, unless you are up early, about 9.30 am, at the latest, there is absolutely no chance of getting a sunbed and the cost of two sunbeds on the beach is 14 euros a day which soon adds a significant cost to your holiday. Also the pool bar is expensive, although this is usual for hotel bars so was not unexpected overall we had a lovely holiday, and aramcao de pera is definately worth visiting

My wife and I stayed in the above hotel in early June and it was by far the best hotel that we have ever stayed in. Indeed this is the first time I have written a report but felt I had to when I read about the chap bemoaning the fact that he did not have fresh fruit for breakfast. Was he blind? The fruit was first class and the oranges and strawberries you could kill for! The heated swimming - yes the heated swimming pool - was absolutely fantastic and all the staff made us feel very welcome. The evening entertainment was poor and the resort was very quiet but that was to our liking. A trip into Albufiera on one of the nearby taxis was more like a potted geography lesson and jao the driver spoke excellent English and came back on time to collect us. Plenty sunbeds, and no kids running riot were also another plus and we cant wait to return next year. Well done and keep it up. This is a genuine report I know when you read these things you are sometimes suspicious but we have no axe to grind and would recommend this hotel
