Hotel Colomba - Florence, Italy 

Good value for the price

Hotel Colomba has a great location, It is on a main street providing easy walking distance to most of the downtown atttractions and shopping. The Duomo and Gioto's bell tower are only 5 minutes walk witk retail and local merchant shops within 10-15 minutes walk of the hotel. The hotel was on the 2nd(3rd in U.S.) floor of a commercial/residencial building. The property was decently maintained but lacked any frills. Our room was directly behind the reception desk(we could hear everything going on out there from our room, and are sure of the reverse). Room size was particularly large with a vaulted ceiling and we had a balcony overlooking other windows and drying laundry. The bathroom was rather small with a stand-up shower and the wall with all of the fixtures attached directly abbutting the reception desk wall (...see my previous note on privacy). Breakfast was very good, the standard in Italy, breads, meats, cheeses, fresh cappuccino. Service was courteous and helpful so overall it was a good value for its location but don't expect much more.
