Hotel Ariele address: Via Magenta 11, Florence, 50123

Hotel Ariele details: This charming hotel, housed in a restored 18th century palace, offers comfortable accommodation in front of the Teatro Comunale and just a short stroll from the city’s main historical attractions.

Conveniently situated in a quiet, residential area near the banks of the Arno River, and a short walk from Santa Maria Novella railway station; this hotel is the ideal base for a sightseeing holiday in Florence. Spend a day visiting the Uffizi gallery, the Bargello museum and the beautiful Cathedral San Maria de Fiore before relaxing in the hotel’s spacious garden and enjoying a drink form the bar.

The friendly staff at this family-run hotel will be happy to help you make museum reservations and book excursions to Florence and the surrounding areas of Siena, San Gimignano, Pisa and Lucca.

The hotel was built over 2 time periods. The 1st part of the residence was built from an old tower dating back to 1400, the 2nd from a prestigious palace built in 1700.

When Florence was the capital of Italy, at the end of 1800, the whole hotel was renovated by the famous architect Giuseppe Poggi, designer of Piazzale Michelangelo.

In the past, the building has been home to various embassies and the residence of a number of famous Florentine families, including the Arcangeli of Strozzavolpe. Later transformed into a hotel, the building still maintains the style and atmosphere of an old noble Florentine home.

This is a nice hotel, spotlessly clean, but a little far from the center of town. Our room for our family of four was huge, a king bed with two twins. There is a lovely courtyard to sit and have a glass of wine. The breakfast was nice and the room very large with lots of nice art to enjoy. The biggest problem was the noise of the slamming doors. It was extremely loud and annoying. I believe some rooms don't have a private bath and people using the hall bathrooms all night long made an incredible noise when shutting the doors. It really was also a bit too far from the center of town. The kids were tired by the time we got there and then not too happy about going to the museums, etc.

Two of three concierges in this hotel were incredibly rude and surly. My son had the room in his name but even though his two traveling companions had their passports, they could not get into their room until he arrived in the evening. The room had already been paid for through a travel agent. The hotel's shower curtains were moldy and it was out of the way which made taking a taxi to and from the hotel necessary. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
