Hotel Castri - Florence, Italy     

Stayed at the Castri in April of 2008. The staff was pleasant enough, but the rooms looked like a cheap motel. This hotel is in bad need of a rehab. The furniture, the fixtures, and the carpets, all worn, cheap and sometimes broken. Don't spend too much on this place. For tightwads only. The breakfast was decent, though. Rolls, cornetti, jellies, ham slices, cheese slices, coffee, milk, cereals, juices, and fruits. The location was pretty decent. Fairly close to the train station, but a good walk from the Ponte Vecchio.

This hotel was disgusting! It was dirty, smelly & run down. The carpet was dirty & stained. The timber shutters were rotting, the walls were shabby. The bathroom was small with a revolting shower curtain & the floor easily flooded. The linen towels (more like over sized tea towels) were useless. A foul smell resembling cheap hair cream pervaded everything & made us feel ill. We could barely endure our two nights there. The breakfast room resembled a cheap, bare cafeteria. Food that should have been refrigerated was left out & was dry & unpalatable. Jam portions etc remained in the cartons in which they were delivered. Water for tea & coffee was warm. This was by far the worst hotel we stayed in during our three months abroad & it is 'hands down' the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. A one star rating would be an exaggeration.
