
Mercato Centrale (100 metres) – this iron and glass covered market was built in the 19th century, and now offers fruit and vegetable stands of every kind amid a bustling atmosphere of colour.
Borgo San Lorenzo (300 metres) – a typical Florentine atmosphere can be experience here, home to the Basilica and numerous Renaissance paintings and sculptures by the likes of Brunelleschi and Michelangelo. Next door is the Biblioteca Medicea, designed by Michelangelo to accommodate many precious papyrus and manuscripts.
Train station ( 300 metres) – just two blocks far from the Central Train Station, Santa Maria Novella. 3 minutes walking distance.
Duomo (600 metres) – this beautiful structure is crowned by the famous Cupola, a revolutionary Renaissance work by Brunnelleschi. Standing alongside is the 12th century Campanile by Giotto and the Battistero in the Piazza San Giovanni.
Fortezza da Basso (100 metres) – we are located in the street, via Faenza, which leads into the Fortezza da Basso, where the most important fairs of the city take place.
Palazzo dei Congressi (100 metres) – 2 minutes walking from the Congress Palace of Piazza Adua.

By Air:
From Florence Amerigo Vespucci Airport take the shuttle to Santa Maria Novella train station. Turn left onto Piazza Adua. After about 60 metres take Via Bernardo Cennini and continue until you come to Via Faenza, where Hotel Mario’s is located at number 89.
By Train:
The hotel is just 3 minutes walk from Florence Santa Maria Novella station. Follow the above directions.
By Car:
From the north:
- Coming from Pisa, the A1 (Bologna-Milan) or A11 (Lucca-Genoa) take the Firenze Nord exit.
- Follow the signs to the city centre (centro), then to Stazione – Fortezza da Basso.
- When you reach the underpass by Fortezza da Basso, take Viale Spartaco Lavagnini.
- Turn right at the first traffic lights onto Via Santa Caterina d'Alessandria.
- Continue straight up to Santa Maria Novella station.
- Turn right at the lights and after 100 metres turn right again onto Piazza Adua.
- Take Via Cennini on the other side of the square.
- Turn right at the end of this road and after 20 metres you will find Hotel Mario's at number 89.
From the south:
- Coming from Siena (SS22) or the A1 (Rome-Naples) take the Firenze Sud exit.
- Follow the signs to the city centre (centro), then to Stazione – Fortezza da Basso.
- When you reach Piazza della Libertà turn left at the first traffic lights (as if you were circling the square).
- After the second lights take Viale Lorenzo il Magnifico, which is opposite and a little to the right.
- At the next traffic lights turn left into Via Poliziano.
- At the next traffic lights cross over and keep right, taking Via Santa Caterina d'Alessandria.
- From here follow the above directions.
Parking:
A garage is available approximately 400 metres from the hotel (open from 07:00-00:00). The rate for guests, per day, is either EUR 23 (standard size cars) or EUR 28 (larger vehicles). The hotel staff will take your car to and from the garage, as and when you require it.
