Stayed at the Domus in July 2008.
Location- The location of the hotel was perfect close to the train station and bus terminus, therefore ideal for visiting other places and few minutes away from the main sites in Florence. The area of the hotel was quiet and safe since it faces Piazza Maria Novella.
Facilities- The room was good sized and included an airconditioner, tv, fridge and private bath. Even though the hotel is a small one it included all the facilities we needed, lift, 24 hour reception, al frescoes on the ceilings, nice breakfast room and courtyard outside. Breakfast was sufficient with a good variety of fruits, yoghurts, pastries, cold cuts etc.
Cleanliness- The room was cleaned and arranged on a daily basis, sufficient and soft towels changed daily.
Staff- This was what made the difference, very helpful, professional and answered all our queries and gave us helpful suggestions.
Can't believe why people complain about this hotel, with so many things to do and interesting places to visit is CNN so important to have? If one just wants 5 star service with a porter taking his luggage to his room and having CNN one should not go to Domus.
I would certainly go again since what I look for is a clean quiet room with a good location at a decent price.

dirty & dingy--had to ask for bathroom cups, pillows,no washcloths--refused an extra towel--bedspread smelled like it wasn't washed in years--threadbare towels--one light only in room--we were there in May but A/C not working until June so we couldn't turn it on to take the odor out of the room-- opened window for fresh air but no screen so room filled with bugs--tv remote didn't work but it wasn't replaced instead we were told to turn it on & off manually(it was located high up on a wall so we had to climb up on a chair to do this)--no CNN but several porn stations& last but not least we had 2 rooms both of which are located on the 2nd floor-- hotel has rooms on the 1st floor and an elevator for rooms on the 3rd floor however the 2nd floor is located across the lobby and ONLY HAS 2 rooms on it & no elevator access but I am not done yet--NO personnel to take our bags up 2 long flights of stairs--we could either carry them up or wait half an hour for the evening clerk who might carry them up for us---we are over 60 years old--the clerk said the hotel was full so we couldn't change rooms but then met younger people who checked in after us--breakfast disgusting--coffee cold & hot water was lukewarm-stale croissants-milk room temperature--a DUMP--the Dumpus Florentia
