We arrived in Florence without any hotel reservations and just by chance stumbled upon the Palazzo Vecchio. Our room was by no means modern, but it was clean, bright, and by far one of the largest we'd had on our trip. It has a great location close to the train station and within walking distance of all the main sights, yet far enough away to warrent a quiet nights sleep. There are a number of restaurants very nearby, as well as an internet cafe right around the corner. Unfortunately, because we had yet to adjust to the time change, we slept through the breakfast that was included.

Highly recommend this hotel. Very clean and quiet, new, our room on the second floor had a small balcony overlooking a garden. Very nice! It is more than you expect from a 3-star hotel, definitely.

Our room was at the rear so we had no problems from street/traffic noise. It was a pleasant room and had a large balcony with a view of the Duomo's dome. However,we found the air-con unit slightly noisy at night. Another unit, mounted in an inner (inaccessable) courtyard, was outside the bathroom window and was incredibly noisy when the bathroom window was open. It did, however, drown out the room air-con noise. The hotel was very convenient for walking to all the main points of interest and its proximity to the rail station a great help in arriving and departing. The staff could have been more welcoming and friendly but we have no fault to find with them. Only one puzzling thing - why was each guest only given one tea spoon for breakfast, for use in eating a cereal, perhaps enjoying some peaches, and for stirring one's coffee.

Central location in city. Room quiet and overlooked a rear garden facilities good. Secure off street parking with a very tight entrance in a one way street, not for the feint hearted. Good breakfast selection

This is a budget hotel located near the train station and bus depot. I stayed here during the height of tourist season and appreciated the well-priced, clean room and the decent breakfast. My room faced an interior air shaft. At first, I was sorry not to have a view. But on the other hand, I had no street noise. The room was tiny, but clean. The bathroom could pose a problem for some, as the slate floor gets very slippery. Too few towels were provided. Most of the staff was pleasant and polite - except for the infamous "breakfast lady" with whom several in my group had run-ins. As for me, she ran after me to the elevator yelling that I was not supposed to take more than one paper napkin. (I had taken five.) We were suspicious when the hotel staff recommended the restaurant next door (The Two Gs), wondering if it was perhaps run by the owner's brother-in-law. It turned out to serve wonderful, authentic food.
