Bonifacio - Florence, Italy

This was our first trip to Italy. Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant and helpful. I have highly recommended Bonifacio to our British friends who run a tourist villa in Umbertide. Their clients are frequently looking for a moderately priced lodging in Florence.

Although location and facilities are good, the first day was a bad experience as we arrived to find a freezing room, not equipped for 3 people as we've required and inexistent staff. We had to leave the room as soon as we arrived because we couldn't even take a shower in the freezing bathroom and I had to carry blankets, pillows and towels myself into the room. After complaining, we were put in a much smaller room, apparently not suitable for 3 people, but at least warm enough to sleep in. It took the staff 2 days to locate the owner in order to discuss the problem and modify the price, and although we paid in cash I still have to check whether we've been double-charged for our stay, as the hotel claims that we've cancelled our reservation. Really a pitty.

The Bonifacio Hotel is a really nice hotel, but its location is a bit of a drawback. Every time you go into the interesting part of Florence, there is a 15 minute walk to be made. There are bus services, but they dont go too close to the hotel, so you need to be quite fit. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, mostly quite good, and of course its fairly handy for an early morning visit to L'Academie. An early morning visit is an essential if you want to get in before the crowds, which are huge.

Very nice, clean and convenient Hotel. I would recommend to families with children.

Welcoming in the hotel was ok, despite that the man in the reception did not speak english. The room was very spacious, clean and quiet. The hotel itself was about 20 min walking from the town center and there was no nice restaurants/bars around the hotel. No parking.
