We had requested a superior twin room, but were sent to a tiny double room on the fifth floor next to the breakfast room. We asked to be moved and were dismayed at the treatment we received by the reception staff. We were eventually moved to a twin room in the other part of the hotel. Although Florence is beautiful the staff at this hotel were so rude and unhelpful it was quite offputting. The hotel bar doubles as a breakfast room and had no atmosphere, it didn't even have the wine we requested which was only pinot grigio! A cleaner started hoovering outside of our room at 8.15am on the saturday morning, which is not a great way to be woken up.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights last week. The hotel was absolutely lovely, wonderful location for exploring the city, the room was spotlessly clean and beautiful. The staff could not have been more helpful - I hurt my ankle and they were so, so helpful and very concerned. The breakfast was a great buffet selection - kept us going for the whole day. I would definitely stay at the Diplomat again, and have already recommended it to all my friends.
